MOLENHORST EQUESTRIAN CENTER

As riders, we are all aware that training a horse is a time-consuming commitment, many a weekend of our youths and adult lives have been spent riding, mucking out and spending time with the horses we love and care for. It is therefore hugely important that we get the most out of the time we spend with our horses.

With this experience we develop a deeper understanding of the methods of communication which becomes the foundation of the relationship between you and your horse. Horses are sensitive, observant beings and are receptive to the stimuli surrounding them. Considering this, we must be mindful of which signals we as riders send out to obtain the most out of the work that you do together. Small elements such as how you sit in the saddle, how you breath and your state of mind play an important part.

From the first interaction of the day between you and your horse, we as riders must observe and deduce its mood from the cues and movement provided. Each and every horse is unique and it is up to the rider to observe and adapt the approach to maximise the clarity of the conversation.

This relationship is therefore the cornerstone of our philosophy and we strongly believe that with better communication comes the necessary understanding between you and your horse to achieve your maximum potential as a team.
